A typical urban roadway network divides rectangular city blocks and comprises lots of orthogonal intersections for vehicles.

The concept of a new approach to roadways configuration can be derived from a natural honeycomb. The roadways of a suggested city are to be connected in a regular way similar to the net structure of a honeycomb face and complete a whole roadway network.

The network divides the assigned city area into multiple cells each separated in a hexagonal figure, and consequently comprises a number of relevant Y-type intersections.

In comparison with a typical rectangular city, the city of newly approached roadway system can reduce 63% of road-occupying area and 30% of city-occupying area, and the traffic flow can be improved by 600% or more.

This paper proves that the proposed hexagonal roadway system enables vehicles to be connected by average 22% shorter distance and to be reached in average 75% shorter time without meeting any red(stop) signals through its own synchronized signal system for traffic flow controls.

Consequently the roadway network with Y-type intersections reduces frictional losses and consuming energies by vehicles of frequent stop-and-go. By achieving better traffic efficiency with Y-type intersections, the life span of vehicles and roadways can also be prolonged, and urban pollution can be reduced enormously in result.

When the proposed systems are implemented globally, resources of the earth consumed by all cities can be saved more than 50%. This invention can pave a road for achieving ultimate goal of advancing the human environment, and thus the modern civilization of mankind will forever continue into the epoch of culture.

The patent for this Invention was already decided to be granted on 4Th of Dec., 2006 by the Patent Office of Korea, Rep.KYD of Saville Korea Corp.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16933765432615927917noreply@blogger.com
